Delete your HanziTales account

You can delete your account, and the data associated with it, at any time. There is no charge and you do not need to give a reason.

In the app

Open Account & credits from the home screen and choose Delete account. You will be asked to sign in again to confirm.

By email

If you no longer have the app installed, send an email from the address you signed up with to support@hanzitales.com with the subject Delete my HanziTales account. We confirm the request and complete the deletion within 30 days.

What is deleted

Your sign-in — email address and password — your display name and your profile.
Your learning progress, quiz history, review scheduling, vocabulary lists and reading history.
Books you generated and never shared.
Your credit balance and any unused credits.

What is kept

Books you chose to share with other readers stay available, with your name removed.
Ratings and feedback you submitted are kept without any link to you.
Purchase and invoice records are kept in anonymised form for as long as tax and accounting law requires.

What survives is attached to a single shared label used for everyone who has left, not to an identifier for you, so it cannot be traced back or linked together as one person's history. The full breakdown is in section 9 of the Privacy Policy.

Cancel your subscription first. Subscriptions are managed by the App Store or Google Play. Deleting your HanziTales account does not cancel them, and we cannot cancel them for you — cancel in the store before you delete, or you may continue to be billed.
